(Prince of Transylvania; fiancé of Anna Jagiellon, Queen; elected king on 15 December 1575; crowned the following year on 30 May. He forced the Gdańsk burghers to obedience; restored Polotsk, Vitebsk and Livonia to the Commonwealth by arms; re-established the tribunals; founded the Vilnius Academy; just, vigorous, gifted; taken by untimely death in Grodno in 1586 at the age of 54, in the 11th year of his reign, on 12 December). 

This piece is an old cast from the Białogon foundry, established in the first half of the 17th century. It reproduces the medal from the renowned Royal Suite series, one of the most sought-after groups in Polish medallic art. Medals from this series - created by J. J. Reichel (I. I. REICHEL F / I. I. R. F) and court medalist Jan Filip Holzhaeusser (I.P.F.H.).
