Rev.: A symbol of Christian faith depicted as eight grapevines with fruit growing from the soil and illuminated by the sun. The inscription reads:
ПОСѢТИ ВИНОГРАДЪ СЕЙ (Tend this vine);
Below the exergue: ЗА ОТЛИЧИЕ | 190*;

Medal awarded to graduates of women's institutes under the Department of Institutions of Empress Maria. The inscription on the reverse of the medal, 'ПОСѢТИ ВИНОГРАДЪ СЕЙ' ('Tend this vine'), is a quotation from the Psalter in Church Slavonic. In Russian, it translates to: 'O God of Hosts, turn Your gaze upon us, look down from Heaven, and tend to Your vineyard!' (Psalm 79:15).
