Extremely rare.

The dies for this medal were engraved by Carl Leberecht, but exhibit certain defects and were likely not used for striking the main production run issued for the event. All specimens related to this occasion that are known to appear on the market were struck from recreated dies by V. Bezrodny and K. Jurgenson (Diakov 230.2). To our knowledge, the present piece is the only medal known to have been struck from the original Leberecht dies to have ever appeared for sale.

This medal commemorates the marriage of Grand Duke Alexander Pavlovich, future Emperor Alexander I, to Princess Louise of Baden, who upon conversion to Orthodoxy took the name Elizaveta Alexeievna. The wedding took place on 28 September 1793 at the Russian imperial court.

The union was arranged by Empress Catherine II as part of broader dynastic and diplomatic efforts. The medal, engraved by court medalier Carl Leberecht, reflects the political and symbolic significance of the marriage. The all-seeing eye symbolizes divine approval, while the paired monograms affirm dynastic unity.

This is one of the earliest official portrait medals of the future emperor, issued during the reign of his grandmother.
