A mid-19th century copy from dies by Kalashnikov, which themselves replicate the original dies by Müller.

(Peter, son of Alexis, by the grace of God Russian Emperor and Grand Duke of Moscow). 

Rev.: Minerva seated on arms with spear and shield inscribed:

(Levenhaupt captured with his forces). To the left, the allegory of the Dnieper River in the form of a reclining bearded old man with an urn pouring water.

This medal commemorates the surrender of General Adam Ludwig Lewenhaupt’s Swedish corps to Russian forces near the Dnieper River after the Battle of Poltava. The event marked the final collapse of Charles XII's army and confirmed Russian ascendancy in the Great Northern War.
