Introduction of Leave Tokens (1902): Initially, "leave tokens" were introduced to regulate the dismissal process for lower ranks. Each token corresponded to the service member's personal number. Units maintained as many tokens as personnel, stored in secured boxes under the duty officer's control. Before leaving the unit, soldiers reported to the duty officer for inspection and received either a leave token or a leave pass. Upon return, tokens or passes were surrendered, with the time of return noted in a logbook. 

Permanent possession of leave tokens was allowed for government workers, individual soldiers on assignment, or those living off-base. For groups, the token was issued to the team leader, or individually for extended assignments. 

The 'leave token' was a metal plate of arbitrary shape, measuring 1 to 1.5 vershoks (4.4 to 6.6 cm). It featured engraved letters and numbers indicating the company (squadron) number or team name, the unit name and number, and the personal number of the soldier it was issued to.

Introduction of Personal Tokens (1909): In 1909, the system was revised, and "leave token" was renamed "personal token" to reflect its broader use as a form of military identification. It functioned as both a military ID and a leave token.
