A pair of prize badges in the Art Nouveau (Modern) style, of free, asymmetrical outline, issued for a club sports tournament.
On the obverse, both badges bear the inscription “I приз Л.Л.Т.К.К.Л.” - represents an abbreviated form of the name of the sports competition and the organizing club; the bases are of silver, one badge featuring a blue hot-enamel field framed by a gold surround, the other with a green hot-enamel field set within a gilt bronze frame.
On the reverse, each badge is engraved in cursive script directly on the silver surface with the respective award inscriptions: “Gentlemen’s Handicap Doubles, 30 July 1917” and “Ladies’ Handicap Doubles, 30 July 1917.”
It is noteworthy that this sports tournament took place after the February Revolution of 1917. Its organization in mid-1917 suggests the survival of pre-revolutionary club traditions and was possibly associated with émigré or expatriate circles.
