Obv.: Bust of Heinrich von Stephan facing right; dates and name around.

Rev.: Mounted postilion with posthorn riding right, above a heraldic shield.

Struck in 1931 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Prussian General Postmaster Heinrich von Stephan (1831–1897), a key figure in the modernization of German postal and telecommunication systems. Designed and executed by renowned medallist Karl Goetz. Matt surface, with minor hairlines.
