Obv.: Profile bust of Emperor Alexander I facing right, wearing a peruke and the uniform of the Preobrazhensky Regiment, with an order sash over his right shoulder.

(Alexander, Emperor of Russia). 


Below the truncation: 

MDCCCXIII 

(1813). 


Rev.: Imperial Russian coat of arms (double-headed eagle) within a circular legend. 


Inscription around:

(Bravely he defends, triumphing). 


This medal was issued in 1813 in honor of Emperor Alexander I and his leadership during the campaigns against Napoleon. The elegant neoclassical design was executed by Thomas Wyon in England.
