The Imperial Philanthropic Society, under the patronage of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, operated from 1883 and supported impoverished children through apprenticeships, shelters, Sunday schools, and financial aid. Tokens were issued according to special regulations established on June 7/16, 1892, and made of gold or silver.
