Obv.: Bust of King Karl XII facing right, surrounded by the legend: CAROL XII D G REX SVEC (Carolus XII Dei Gratia Rex Sueciae - Charles XII, by the grace of God, King of Sweden).
Rev.: Inscription in six lines: SEYD WOLGEMUTH UND TRAURET NICHT, WER WEIS WAS NOCH GAR BALD GESCHICHT ("Be of good cheer and do not mourn, who knows what will soon happen"). Below, the inscription Tempus Revelat Omnia ("Time reveals all") with the date 1716 divided across the exergue.
